ADHD Assessment, Diagnosis & Treatment at Veritas Mind Psychology
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental conditions, affecting over one million Australians. Core symptoms often include inattention, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity, which can significantly impact daily life, across school, work, relationships, and emotional wellbeing.
In October 2022, new Australian clinical guidelines for ADHD were released, reshaping how ADHD is identified, diagnosed, and supported. These updated guidelines promote earlier intervention, more accurate diagnosis, and a multidisciplinary approach to treatment and ongoing care.
At Veritas Mind Psychology, we provide comprehensive ADHD services delivered by experienced psychologists, from screening and diagnosis to therapy and tailored support. While ADHD is a lifelong condition, with the right tools and understanding, individuals can manage symptoms more effectively and thrive in their personal and professional lives.
Our ADHD Process Includes:
Screening & Early Identification
Formal Psychometric Assessment & Diagnosis
Treatment Planning & Psychological Support
Liaison with GPs, Schools & Support Services
If you suspect that you or someone you care about may be experiencing ADHD, we invite you to book an initial 1-hour screening session. During this session, we will administer a validated ADHD screener and provide guidance on whether further assessment is recommended.

ADHD Report
-
Our assessments are based on the internationally recognised Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5), ensuring a thorough, standardised, and clinically valid diagnostic process. Each report clearly outlines symptom presentation, functional impacts across different settings (school, work, home), developmental history, and whether full diagnostic criteria are met.
-
Our reports include all essential information required by GPs and psychiatrists to support applications for medication under the PBS, including symptom onset before the age of 12, evidence of impairment in two or more settings, and detailed observations from validated ADHD rating scales. Reports are formatted to assist medical providers in completing PBS authority applications or referrals to specialists if necessary.
Please note: Final PBS eligibility decisions are made by a qualified medical doctor or psychiatrist.
-
Each report is written in plain, accessible language while maintaining clinical depth. We provide practical recommendations for interventions, educational adjustments, workplace supports, and psychological therapies. Reports are designed not only to support accurate diagnosis but also to guide the client’s ongoing care across educational, medical, and psychological domains.
-
Following the assessment, a feedback session is provided to explain the results in clear, meaningful terms. This ensures clients understand their diagnosis, strengths, challenges, and the next steps for treatment and support.
-
We are not authorised to prescribe medication or determine eligibility for the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). My role is to conduct a thorough assessment, provide a clinically valid diagnosis based on DSM-5 criteria, and prepare a comprehensive report that supports medical practitioners. Final decisions regarding ADHD medication, treatment planning, and PBS eligibility must be made by a qualified GP or psychiatrist.
We ensure ADHD reports include the clinical history, symptom profile, functional impairment, and multi-setting impact needed to support PBS-related medical decision-making.
